Discover the warmth and comfort of our resin alternatives to concrete flooring
Concrete flooring is a very popular choice for many interior spaces – in both residential and commercial environments. At Sphere8 our resin flooring provides a genuine alternative to concrete – similar in style and design but with countless practical benefits.
One of the most important concerns is the durability of any floor. Although it sounds like it would be highly durable, concrete flooring is almost guaranteed to crack at some point, as by nature it is a brittle material. By comparison our resin flooring alternative is particularly designed to combat this, because of the natural elasticity of the biopolymers. Our resin floors are also easier to clean and maintain than concrete flooring, which is susceptible to staining. Built up in several poured layers to a thickness of around 4mm, a Sphere8 floor is applied by hand by one of our expert teams of installers.
The other key reason for choosing concrete flooring is the minimalist and contemporary design. Fortunately at Sphere8 we are able to imitate the colour and finish of polished concrete with one of our carefully chosen collection – a range of muted natural greys with gentle movement of colour throughout deliberately designed to imitate concrete flooring. Alternatively, you have the option of unlimited design choices – our floors are available in a carefully curated range of colours, or indeed any bespoke shade you request. Whilst concrete flooring is limited by available colours, our flooring is composed of the very pigment you choose – giving a saturated, opaque finish. With our unique Breccia finish you can also imitate terrazzo concrete flooring with mixed aggregate of your choice – all with the same seamless properties.
One of the most important advantages of resin over concrete flooring, particularly in residential projects, is the issue of comfort. Polished concrete or cement flooring is frequently cold and hard underfoot, whilst our resin floors are soft, smooth and warm with a natural elasticity. Almost all of our clients mention this as an obvious advantage of choosing a Sphere8 floor – although they are compatible with underfloor heating, it is certainly not necessary.
An increasingly important concern of our clients is the environmental impact of their choice. Our alternative to concrete flooring is not just stylish, easy to maintain and warm underfoot, it delivers all of these benefits whilst also being environmentally-sustainable. A Sphere8 floor is made from a natural resin biopolymer derived from the castor bean – a highly sustainable plant – whereas concrete is one of the most energy intensive materials on the planet.
Whilst concrete flooring can be a stylish option, a poured resin alternative is invariably more durable, practical and comfortable. Now you do not have to choose between the practical benefits of a resin floor and the effect of polished concrete. Furthermore, as experts in resin flooring with years of experience, Sphere8 offers an unparalleled service in the supply and installation of poured resin floors. Our installers have worked throughout London and the UK for many years, over hundreds of residential and commercial projects. A certified member of the Resin Flooring Association (FeRFA), and three-time winner of Project of the Year, Sphere8 can give you peace of mind that you have trusted your resin flooring project to the experts.
