Ever since we were introduced to Goldfinger Factory through their collaboration with Tom Dixon, we have been in awe of the work they do as part of the local community – turning waste materials and wasted talent into, well, gold! Whether that takes the form of upcycled furniture or pieces for their new Trellick range designed by Tom himself. Either way their work is hugely deserving of recognition and we were thrilled when we worked out a way we could collaborate with them! Before we’re ready to reveal what we’re working on though, we thought it was right to take a good look at all they’ve already achieved…
Goldfinger Factory are a social enterprise that work with artisans, or would-be-artisans, to harness their talent into a self-sustaining skill. There is such a huge amount of unexploited potential in our communities, and the team at Goldfinger work tirelessly to see that it’s not wasted. Led by energetic founder Ollie and his incredibly talented team, Goldfinger’s work also actively upcycles furniture and rescues materials headed for landfill sites – they are dedicated to creating a no-waste society. You can see scraps of wood turned into whole coffee tables or request a bespoke piece, comfortable in the knowledge it’s created from upcycled materials. They have everything from coaster sets, or hand-made cheese boards to full Nordic furniture sets, and whatever their social or environmental value, these pieces stand alone as beautiful objects in their own right!

If this has intrigued you, head down to their workshop-meets-showroom space in West London. Situated under the iconic Trellick Tower, their showroom space also has a buzzing café (serving up sustainably-sourced food, cold-pressed juices and exquisite coffee) and showcases their huge range of upcycled furniture and new pieces. A favourite of ours is the Trellick clock – a beautiful construction of their home that makes a unique timepiece!
Trellick Tower is undoubtedly a big part of the Goldfinger identity – they host events there, from supper clubs and community feasts to cooking classes – and there is an interesting story behind this too… The inspiration behind Ian Fleming’s eponymous criminal Goldfinger, was in fact the architect who created Trellick Tower! And this brutalist icon was threatened with destruction before gaining its status as a Grade II listed building – a real-life example of the ‘Waste Into Gold’ ideology!
