What to avoid
Do not drag or slide heavy objects over the floor.
As a first step, ensure that all feet of furniture, chairs, tables, etc are protected with tan/light coloured felt or teflon pads to protect the floor from the outset (not green, black or other).
Never clean using a scouring pad, scrubbing pad or abrasive cleaning product.
Limit using a vacuum cleaner but if you do, use the brushes down. (try to clean using a dry microfibre flat mop)
Wet rubber or wet untreated timber leach oil and can leave stains behind. Softeners in rubber and some plastics can also respond this way when wet- examples of these include buggies/prams, bike tyres, trolley wheels, clothes dryers or gym equipment.
Try to prevent sand from getting on the floor- it acts as sandpaper and is abrasive on the final floor finish.
Although a Sphere8 floor surface is resistant to most liquids including; tea, coffee, wine, fruit juice etc- remove promptly, do not give these time to dwell on the floor and sink in.
Pay particular attention to acids, colours, stains, dyes, hair dyes, plasticisers (softeners in rubber) and abrasives.
Avoid leaving soaking wet towels or bags lying on the floor.
Turmeric stains most surfaces, use with a lot of care.
For stubborn stains request a copy of our ‘Stain Removal Methodology’.
Protecting the floor
As mentioned in the first section of the blog under ‘Normal Cleaning’ when cleaning any Sphere8 floor, after removing any loose first particles using a microfibre mop, we encourage you to clean using a moist flat-head mop. The reason we suggest this is because it effectively lifts and removes dirt without leaving behind any smears. A regular mop can just move the dirt from side to side, leaving dirt and water behind.
When mopping the floor, products containing soap or polymer will leave a residue on the floor, which will attract more first and create a slipper film so we recommend using the floor cleaners found at our shop, through our website.
We recommend all feet of furniture are protected with felt or teflon pads to protect the floor from the outset. These are available from many online retailers, and we recommend Scratch No More. Chair castors are generally fine, however softer wheels (for wooden floors) are also available from Stroolmount.

We hope that this blog has provided some clarity, comfort and reassurance in current or potential resin floor installations in your home/ project.
