Project Focus: Brunel Engine Shed

Last week we completed a beautiful resin floor installation at the Brunel Engine Shed in High Wycombe, a Grade II listed building. Our skilled team installed this 880m2 floor in just over a week, with their commitment and dedication shown in how spectacular the floor looks, and the immense attention to detail. See below the before and after!

One of the main client specifications was sustainability and ensuring the lowest carbon resin system available was installed to reflect the Buckinghamshire New University’s values. The system chosen was EPI Superbase Cortica, which is carbon-neutral and features renewable and plant-based materials.

The EPI Superbase Cortica system is a very sustainable, low carbon resin floor system, with cork for the filler. The combination of plant-based biopolymer resin and a renewable material, cork, for the aggregate results in a floor that is both environmentally compassionate and beautiful. This system is perfect for projects where sustainability is a priority. We have a full product specific EPD for this low carbon system, to truly verify our claims of environmental sustainability!

EPI Superbase Cortica features a light cork aggregate, that is mixed into the resin base to create a subtle effect on the space. The Brunel Engine Shed project featured this system in the colour ‘Early’; a dark grey that provides the perfect canvas for a large space as this.

Our excellent team created the inlaid track system, which emulates the original train tracks of the Engine Shed. This was a challenge, but our skilful installers did a brilliant job with an exceptional attention to detail, especially in the time constraints.
