Meet Sphere8’s Alternative to Polished Concrete Flooring

The aesthetic design of polished concrete is one many clients request, but without the drawbacks. This is where Sphere8’s resin flooring is the perfect alternative to polished concrete flooring.

With clients looking to achieve a minimalist, contemporary environment, polished concrete is a popular choice of flooring for this effect. Increasingly, we have had clients enquiring about an alternative to polished concrete flooring, as there are drawbacks to this flooring type, not present in our seamless resin floor systems.

The allure of a polished concrete floor is the look it provides to the space: chic, industrial, minimalist. Unfortunately, the physical properties of polished concrete floors are unforgiving. With cracking incredibly likely, durability is a main issue for this flooring type. With Sphere8 floors the seamless finish will remain, as the natural elasticity of poured resin actively retains durability. Furthermore, knowing that your Sphere8 resin floor will be installed by experts with years of experience, gives you peace of mind.

There is the comfort and warmth of a resin floor, in comparison to the cold and hard nature of a polished concrete floor. This is where a Sphere8 biopolymer resin floor is a fantastic alternative to polished concrete flooring. A resin floor will be warm underfoot, soft and smooth, and can be used with (or without!) underfloor heating. This suitability and flexibility to residential environments over the cold of a polished concrete floor can be a definite deciding factor for clients!

One of the main benefits of a Sphere8 resin floor is the complete design freedom. As an alternative to polished concrete flooring, we are able to imitate the colour and movement of this flooring type. Our floors are hand-applied in two different pigments to create the movement associated with polished concrete flooring. For a more bespoke option, you can use our innovative colour-match service to get the exact shade required.

Finally there is the environmental concern. Polished concrete flooring contains high levels of cements, one of the most energy intensive materials on the planet. Comparably, our resin is made from a highly renewable natural resource; castor beans; which is cleaner, safer and better for your space and the environment.
